Marc Charney
Senior Principal Consulting Engineer, HPE
Biography:
Marc is a Senior Principal Consulting Engineer and Americas Lead for Hospitality at HPE Aruba Networking, holding a Master of Science in Data Science and Cybersecurity from the University of Memphis. With over 30 years in the wireless networking industry — tracing back to Symbol Technologies and Motorola Solutions — and more than 11 years at HPE, he brings deep technical expertise paired with a data-driven approach to solving real-world hospitality challenges.
For the past five-plus years, Marc has been focused on the hospitality vertical, specializing in strategic integrations, network analytics, and API operationalization — helping key partners, MSPs, and hotel brands build out their own monitoring dashboards, automated workflows, and data pipelines using HPE Aruba Central and GreenLake platforms. His recent work spans multi-property MSP dashboard development, multi-tenant network operations tooling, and agentic AI frameworks for NOC automation — including pioneering the use of Model Context Protocol (MCP) as a natural-language interface for network management.
Marc is an active contributor to industry working groups including the AHLA AI Community, the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), and HTNG, where he collaborates on initiatives around Passpoint/OpenRoaming, Zero Trust architecture, and AI-driven guest connectivity. He has presented at HITEC and HTNG on topics ranging from AI-powered network operations to cellular offload strategies, and has authored thought leadership on the intersection of agentic AI, application-based access control, and hospitality network security.
His consulting work bridges network infrastructure and business outcomes — advising customers and partners on WLAN optimization, captive portal architecture, IoT segmentation, and leveraging network telemetry as a data science discipline to drive operational intelligence and improved guest experiences.
