Karthik Swarnam

Vice President of Global Information Security, AT&T

Biography:

Karthik Swarnam is a Vice President of Global Information Security at AT&T (Fortune 9 company with a market cap of 300 Billion USD). In this role, he leads efforts to protect the company’s information assets and pioneer data-driven security solutions for the Internet of Things, Vulnerability Management, Software-Defined Networking, and Cloud Computing. 

Karthik is a proven leader with a track record of directing global organizations and expertise in developing innovative solutions. He emphasizes the use of security as an enabler – protecting critical data and network operations while implementing technology and process initiatives required to realize improvements in security posture, regulatory compliance, cost, revenue, and quality objectives. 

He was a founding member and leader of Accenture’s security practice where he built a security architecture framework (SAF) used by companies around the world. 

Prior to joining AT&T, Karthik served as Chief Security Officer for DIRECTV, a global leader in media and entertainment; and TransUnion, a global credit reporting agency which includes CIBIL in India as well as several countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas. 

Karthik earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Annamalai University in India and a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit. He also completed a Leadership Program at Harvard University.
