Steve Dyett

Head of Global Wi-Fi Solutions, BT

Biography:

Steve is responsible for reviewing new opportunities and developing innovations in the wi-fi marketplace.  He works with BT’s wholesale and roaming partners who offer wi-fi to complement their cellular networks or extend their international wi-fi footprints.

With nearly 30 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, Steve has worked at BT since 1984. He joined GTM from BT Wi-fi, the UK’s largest wi-fi network, with more than five million hotspots across the UK and Ireland.

Since 2004 he has worked on task forces of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association driving the next-generation wi-fi experience. In 2008, Steve was part of the team that developed the award-winning WRIX (Wireless Roaming Interface eXchange) that provides interconnect services to a majority of wi-fi providers.  Currently Steve is working in the WBA on the creation of process and documentation to support the Next Generation Hotspot programme.

Steve first joined BT’s wi-fi group more than 12 years ago when it was known as BT Openzone, spectrum was first liberalised and the first six BT public hotspots were deployed.
