Howard Buzick

Business Development, Telecom Infra Project

Biography:

Howard Buzick is the head of Demand Generation and Business Development for Telecom Infra Project’s OpenWiFi initiative. He works with all the partners in the TIP OpenWiFi ecosystem to educate, promote, evangelize and commercialize OpenWiFi including MSPs, ODMs, OEMs, and Silicon Providers. He also represents TIP OpenWiFi at industry conferences including Wi-Fi Global Congress, Wi-Fi World Congress, #WLPC, HITEC, among others, and is an active member of the WBA, Wi-Fi Now and the Wi-Fi Alliance. 

Howard has over 20 years of experience working in the wireless industry and has been focused on enabling cellular and Wi-Fi convergence since 2009. As VP Business Development for Boingo Wireless, he was part of the leadership team that launched and deployed the first-ever Passpoint™ Wi-Fi network at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. He was instrumental in expanding the Passpoint technology to every global airport where Boingo managed the Wi-Fi network including Dubai, New York’s JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports, and London’s Gatwick, and other leading airports.  

Howard has worked with leading technology and telecom companies including Global IP Solutions (acquired by Google), Adobe, Keynote Systems, Qualys, and Birdstep Technologies. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from San Jose State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He also holds a Certificate in Japanese Language and Culture from Waseda University.  

Howard is passionate about the potential for open and standards-based solutions to accelerate innovation in wireless and sees TIP OpenWiFi as an excellent initiative to help realize this potential.
